As a culminating activity to a series of training-workshops on the Road Reclassification of the San Migue-Sebaste Road, the Provincial Road Management (PRMF) Guimaras convened key stakeholders and hosted an event entitled “Project Brief Presentation on Road Reclassification January 08, 2014 at Shirven Hotel, San Miguel, Jordan, Guimaras”.
The activity called for the reclassification of San Miguel-Sebaste road in Guimaras from its current provincial road classification to national road classification. Primarily to channel more road maintenance funds to other provincial road sections especially Pina-Suclaran road to improve tourism accessibility, facilitate tourism accessibility to windmill sites in San Lorenzo and Sibunag in the near future and Encourage investments in tourism in the vicinity of both San Miguel-Sebaste and Pina-Suclaran roads, the case study was presented.
The following reasons why there is a need for reclassification of the mentioned road were the following (1) Demand (OD survey data; commodity pricing data), (2) Supply (inventory findings), (3) Accessibility (social mapping), (4) Connectivity (location map) and (5) Hazard (social mapping).
The presentation served likewise as the information for the provincial and municipal governments as well as national government agencies that are involved in the process of road reclassification.
